Obituary of Robert Joseph Gublo

Gublo, Robert Joseph "Roy" Age 70 of Elmira, NY. He was born March 18, 1951 in Elmira, son of the late John and Anna (Gush) Gublo and passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 unexpectedly at home. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his older brother John. Roy is survived by his daughter Karen (Matt) McDonald; son Edward (Kristin) Gublo; 4 grandchildren that he adored, Cassandra-Marie (Julian) Tsyn, Alexandra (Mike) Hubbard, Ryan and Emily Gublo; 2 younger brothers Archie (Crystal and Chuck (Pat) Gublo; several nephews and 1 niece along with great nieces and great nephew. He was a 1969 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He retired from Anchor Glass after 31 years. Those who were close to him appreciated his witty sense of humor. Roy was an avid sports fan and reader; his favorite teams were the NY Giants and Syracuse basketball. He loved his sporadic visits from his brother Archie, when he brought him his hotdogs and Wegmans subs. He also enjoyed going to his brother Chuck's to watch any sporting event and enjoy one of his home cooked meals. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, March 1st from 5 to 7 pm. A brief prayer service will be held at 7 pm.
