Obituary of Francis E. Hurley

HURLEY, Francis E. Age 93 of Elmira, NY. He was born April 3, 1920 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Edward and Edna (Mooney) Hurley and passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Bath VA Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa in 1990 and brothers Lee, Jack, Richard and Robert. Francis is survived by his children and their spouses Francis and Nancy Hurley of FL, Betty and Ed VanSchoick of Elmira, Bob and Doreen Hurley of PA, Kathleen Vermilion of TX, Nancy Neylon of Rochester, NY and Mary Pat Sullivan of Elmira; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother Bill Hurley of CT; sisters Evelyn (Phil) Foster of Elmira, Dorothy Notorfonzo of Saratoga Springs, NY, Jean (George) Lowman of Elmira, Betty Hurley of Elmira and Mary Dial of Elmira Heights along with several nieces and nephews. Francis was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. He retired from Conrail; was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII where he was a P.O.W. in Germany. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, August 13th from 4 to 7 pm.. His funeral service will be held there on Wednesday, August 14th at 10 am. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. His family thanks the doctors and staff at the Bath VA for the wonderful care they provided him during his stay there.oispital
