Obituary of Samuel L Brooks

Samuel Lee Brooks Elmira, NY Went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the age of 72. Samuel was born in Lake Wales, FL on Tuesday, March 28, 1950, and later moved to Geneva, NY before spending most of his life in Elmira. After completing his high school education, he graduated from Corning Community College with a major in human resources and a minor in business. Samuel was a God-fearing man who loved sharing the gospel, going to church and reading his Bible. He enjoyed spending his time with family, cooking and cracking jokes. He was very active in the community and held numerous jobs throughout his life; Switzer aircraft, Volunteers of America and bartending at the former Green Pastures with his good friend Howard Coleman, were just some of his many occupations he held. Samuel is loving remembered by his wife, Beverly (Cheatham) Brooks; daughters, Erika Brooks and Knitya Flores; sons, Lance Williams, Mark Blandford, Bretton Sheppard (deceased), Samuel (Mckenzie) Brooks, Tavis (Sara) Brooks and Justus Burns; step-children, Rochelle Cheatham, Rickel Cheatham; sisters, Murlene, Brenda, Diane, Ann, Rochell Brooks and Bianca Brooks; brothers, Johnny Brooks (deceased), Eddie Brooks (deceased), Randall Brooks, James Brooks, Marland Brooks, Marcus Brooks, Emanuel Brooks, Elder Timothy Brooks and Dominique Brooks; along with grandchildren, Brandon Williams, Lance Williams, Brittany Williams, Brooke (Aric) Gallagher, Jaran (Amanda) Reid, Justin Flores, Noah Flores, Devin Flores, Joseph Flores, Benjamin Flores, Donavan Flores, Jeremiah Cade, Lontez Brooks, Alyana Calvelli, Kamari Cavelli, Atiyah Harris, Makai Scharborough, Jose Charles, Nataylia Torres, Justus Burns Jr., Teana Brooks, Tayvon Brooks and Breyan Brooks, Kamile Mayweather, Jaqualine Williams-Akins and Aamir Headly; as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie (Veronica Holmes Brooks) and Earline (Brown) Brooks Sr. Family and friends are invited to Faith Temple Community Church of God in Christ 722 Standish Street Elmira on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:00 am to celebrate and honor Sammy's life. Elder Timothy Brooks will officiate.
