Obituary of Duane Bravo

Age 88 of Elmira, NY. He was born October 15, 1933 in Elmira, son of the late Roy Earl and Margaret (Wales) Bravo and passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022 at home. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson Brian Bravo, great great grandson Milo Stage-Cha and brother Robert Bravo. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marjorie (Swinko) Bravo; children and their spouses Stephen M. & Megan of Bel Air, MD, James M. & Roxanne of Elmira, David C. & Nancy of Elkridge, MD, Kathryn A. Bravo & Terrance Bailado of Chesapeake, VA and Barbara K. & David Miller of Elmira; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Bravo of Millport. Duane was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Corning, Inc. after 40 years of service. He enjoyed traveling across the U.S., enjoying the National Parks and areas of historic interest. Duane was a "family" man. He was active in scouting, sports, and school activities for his children. In addition, he seldom missed a sporting event, dance recital, play, or school activity for his grandchildren. Duane enjoyed any family get together and was instrumental in organizing and maintaining the Bravo family reunion and updating "the book." His witty side has provided many laughs over the years and will provide many memories for years to come. Many thanks to DeeDee and her staff for the compassionate care they provided Duane, and the immense support given to our family. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Monday, June 6th from 5 to 7 pm. His funeral and committal services will follow at 7 pm. Interment, with military honors, will take place in Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may make donations in Duane's memory to the Arctic League.
