Obituary of John F. Fesetch

Fesetch, John F. "Jack" Age 81 of Elmira, NY. He was born August 31, 1940 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late Yustin and Helen (Rybak) Fesetch and passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Kathy Penhollow. Jack is survived by his children Lori Gilliam of Land O Lakes, FL, John (Kelli) Fesetch of Horseheads and James Mathers of Syracuse, NY; companion Jean Alexander of Elmira; grandchildren Roland Richardson, Sade Khamassi and Jack Fesetch, Alexis, Vanessa and Garrett Mathers; great grandchildren Annika Khamassi, Mia, Roland and Jai Richardson; brothers Yustin (Terry) Fesetch of Elmira Heights and William (Elaine) Fesetch of Big Flats along with several nieces and nephews. Jack was a communicant of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish attending Ss. Peter & Paul Church. He retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility where he was better known as "The Helmet". Jack was passionate about his NY Giants and Yankees and was still complaining in his final days as to why the Yankees spent $350 million on a pitcher. He was a Gold Glove boxer at the Neighborhood House. He was a friend of Bill W and his biggest purpose in the last 35 years was helping and sponsoring others in our community with their struggles. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, July 8th from 4 to 7 pm. Prayers will be offered there on Saturday, July 9th at 11:30 am, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm in St. Mary's Church. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
