Obituary of Robert W. Appleby

Robert W. Appleby Sr. Age 95, formerly of Millerton, PA. He was born January 17,1927 in Wellsboro, PA, the son of the late Benjamin F. and Pearl (Ripley) Appleby, and passed away peacefully on Friday July 15, 2022. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 73 years, Faith M. Appleby, in 2021; as well as their infant daughter, Bobbi Jo; grandson, J.P; and daughter-in-law Ruth. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater, where he participated in Operation Rescue in 1944. Bob and Faith were longtime members of the Jackson Summit Baptist Church, and he retired from Kennedy Valve Manufacturing Co., Elmira, where he worked as a machinist for 37 years. He is survived by his sons Robert (Linda) Appleby Jr., John Appleby, and Michael Appleby; daughter Stephanie Goldsmith; eight dear grandchildren Bobbi Jo (Nick) Woodruff, Ben (Nicki) Appleby, Justin (Jessica) Appleby, Jessica Appleby, Michael Appleby, Lisa Appleby, Julian (Katie) Goldsmith, and Kailee (Brent) Church; 17 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St., at Washington Ave., Elmira, on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 10 am to 12 noon. Bob's funeral service will be held there at 12 noon. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Alder Run Cemetery, Millerton, PA.
