Obituary of James Vincent Cerio
James Vincent Cerio Sr.
Age 82, was born October 16, 1939 in Elmira, NY the son of the late James Joseph and Matilda (Crusade) Cerio. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a brief illness. Jim was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Morris and his in-laws, Stan and Jeanne Morris. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Cerio; beloved children: Julie Beth (Curt) Hamann and their son, Jack of Elmira, NY; Charles "Chuck" (Carolyn) Cerio Sr. and their children, Charlie Jr. and Callie of Crested Butte, CO; James "Jimmy" (Rebecca) Cerio and their children, Joseph and Dominic of Crested Butte, CO; Gervaise Cerio of the UK; siblings: Marion Cerio of Elmira Heights, NY; Barbra (Rodney) Cerio-Iocco of Pittsford, NY; Thomas Cerio Sr. and his children, Gina Cerio, Thomas Cerio Jr. and Anthony Cerio; brother-in-law's, Bob (Carol) Morris of Elmira, NY and their children, James Morris, Kevin Morris and Julianne (Ross) Morris; David (Kathy) Morris of Massachusetts and his son, Brady Morris; Marilyn's children, Bryan (Cara) Morris and Alicia (Mike) Robyck. Jim received his associates degree from Delhi University in business technology. Jimmy was a renowned drummer in the Elmira and surrounding areas. He was the co-founder of the Twin Tiers Jazz Society. Jim owned and operated Crusade and Cerio Interior Design for many years and also owned and operated Tank Four in Elmira Heights for 20 years. The Marquis Who's Who Publications Board certifies that James V. Cerio is a subject of biographical record in Who's Who in the East, Seventeenth Edition 1979-1980; inclusion in which is limited to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their own fields of endeavor and who have, thereby, contributed significantly to the betterment of the contemporary society. There wasn't a crossword puzzle he couldn't finish. Jimmy was a huge New York Yankees fan as well as a Buffalo Bills fan. Services for Jim will be held at a later date and time. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the Cerio family.
