Ella was born January 28, 1929 in Elmira, daughter of the late Theodore R. Sr. and Mildred Travis and she passed away November 30, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Robert E. Deery in 2014, Her sister, Susie Mathews in 1976; and her brother, Theodore Travis Jr. in 2016. Ella is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Barbara Travis of North Carolina; her loving children and their spouses Eugene and Jeanne Deery of Elmira; Deborah and Scott Beschler of Elmira Heights; Cheryl and Walter Michalko of Elmira; and Darlene and Warren Stephenson of Elmira Heights; 10 Grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ella was a devoted member of Elmwood Avenue Baptist Church in Elmira Heights, and retired from Purolator where she worked for 30 years. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, December 9th from 11 am to 1 pm. Her funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Pastor David Fife will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Ella through donations to Elmwood Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 230 Elmwood Ave., Elmira Heights, NY 14903. Ella's family thanks the 3rd floor staff, therapy and activities at the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the wonderful; care they provided her.
