MacLaury, age 100, formerly of Horseheads, NY, passed away on January 10 at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, PA. She was born in Elmira, N.Y., daughter of the late Ralph and Ethel (Sheldon) Dunn. Raised in Elmira, she graduated with honors from Elmira Free Academy. She married Norman MacLaury on November 7, 1941. He preceded her in death in 2006. She is survived by two daughters: Normagene (Ted) Forsyth and Eileen (Ron) Roefaro; 4 grandchildren: Christopher (Vita) Forsyth, John (Nicole) Roefaro, Anthony (Stephanie) Roefaro, Marci (John) Waite, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Hazel was the last surviving member of her family and was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters as well as a beloved great grandson, Tyler Waite. Hazel loved her family dearly and hosted many family gatherings and reunions at her home in Horseheads. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, sewing, camping, traveling, modern and square dancing and riding motorcycles. She had many special family members, dear friends and neighbors in the Elmira area who made her life full of fun, friendship and adventure. She lived a full, happy and rewarding life. Family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life at the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11 am. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn National Cemetery at 1pm where Hazel will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Norman.
