Obituary of Jeannette F. Kissinger

Jeannette Kissinger Age 82 of Watkins Glen, NY, formerly of Horseheads, NY. She was born November 27, 1940, in White Plains, NY, daughter of the late Howell and MaeBelle (Carpenter) Graf and passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at home. She was predeceased by her husband Leland in 2009 and is survived by her children and their spouses- Karl Kissinger of Cobleskill, NY, Kristina and Grady Cummings of Watkins Glen, NY and Kolleen and Brent Kemmer of Ridgway, PA; grandchildren- Michael, Abby, Cheyenne, Karl, Ethan, Emma, Hannah, Elisabeth, Anthony and Skye; siblings Paul and Betty Graf of Sanbornton, NH, Ilah and Tom Burgess of Horseheads, Robert and Carol Graf of Boynton Beach, FL along with several nieces and nephews. Jeannette was a woman of great faith who demonstrated her love for Jesus by serving others. In her early years, she was a nurse who took pride in the care she gave her patients. When she married, she took those skills with her, working in the summer as camp nurse at Delta Lake Bible Conference Center caring for the children and Haven Campers. She was a behind the scenes kind of woman who was always prepared with a meal, clothing for the foster children she and her husband Leland cared for, or with a smile and encouraging Bible verse to lift your spirits. When her daughters decided they were college bound, she picked up a job as a teaching assistant in the local elementary school to help pay expenses. Once she retired, her grandchildren were an important part of her world. Her summers were dedicated to the children/adults of Delta Lake, quietly making beds, doing laundry, and getting "into trouble" with friends. With an impish grin or a wink, she teased and gave people "grief". In her last years, dementia robbed her of the identity of friends and family members, but she never lost her faith in Jesus and was able to remember the lessons she taught to children long ago- Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves you. You are whole in heaven, Mom. Well done, good and faithful servant. Family and friends are invited to her memorial service on Saturday, January 28th at 2 pm at Maranatha Bible Chapel, 774 Sing Sing Road, Horseheads. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delta Lake Bible Conference Center, 8912 Turin Road, Rome, NY 13440 in Jeannette's honor.
