Obituary of Norma L. Montgomery

Norma L. Montgomery Age 89 of Elmira, New York passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, New York. She was born April 17, 1933 in Elmira, New York, daughter of Harry and Laura (Lyons) Cartledge. Norma was predeceased by her daughter Lucinda Copp Chapman in 2007, husband Lelan Montgomery in 2016, sisters Evelyn Cartledge and June Cartledge O'Connor. She is survived by her brother Gerald Cartledge (Mary Lou) of Alfred Station, New York and children Richard C. Copp, Jr (Dani) of Layton, Utah, Sue Copp Williams of Boulder, Arizona, Kim Copp Spencer of Winter Springs, Florida, Daniel E. Copp (Chae Hui) of Clarksville, Tennessee and Anita Montgomery Beard (Fred) of Elmira, New York; grandchildren, Joshua (Maria) Talbot, Bridget Chapman, Marc Ashton, Kelly Copp, Angela Brown, Nikita Williams, Jamie Spencer (Ed) Lau, Alexander Copp, Daniel "Shin" (Mikyong) Copp, James Copp, Jessica Hootman, Andrew Hootman, Frederick (Christina Cruz) Beard III, Eric (Amanda Goodwin) Beard and Ambur (Zach Smith) Beard; several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. Norma received her Masters of Sociology, summa cum laude, while working for the Department of Social Services for the State of New York retiring in 1998. She was an avid artist, creating many paintings that can be seen around the Twin Tiers. She and loved to swim, no matter the weather was! She was a smart and hardworking woman. Dearly loved and severely missed. To the strongest woman we will ever know. We will love you always! A Memorial Service will be held this summer when family will be able to attend.. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
