Obituary of M. Frances Merrill

In Loving Memory: Mary Frances Merrill It is with heavy hearts and sincere sadness that we announce the passing of our dear M. Frances Merrill, who departed from this world on June 22, 2023. She will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of really knowing her. Francie was born on January 16, 1953 and she was the fourth child of Francis (Toot) and Mary Alice (Kilmer) Merrill. Fran's genuine kindness and giving nature had a lasting impact on those around her. She had an innate ability to bring joy to those who truly knew her. Professionally, she retired from a career at Corning Glass stemming 30+ years. Afterwards, Fran moved from upstate NY to Wilmington, NC, to be closer to her only child and her two beloved grandchildren. Fran absolutely cherished her time with her grandkids watching them grow and explore. Outside of her professional life, Fran loved to be outside in the warm sunshine. She valued traveling to beaches with her family and friends, and her pets. She enjoyed having dogs and cats around for companionship. Fran found joy in the simple pleasures of life; when the weather turned colder, she loved cooking and baking for her family. Her delicious cookies, popcorn balls and cabbage rolls will surely be missed! In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her youngest brother Marc Merrill. Fran is survived by her daughter Michelle Robertson (Joe Myer) of Las Vegas, NV; grandson Rylan Breese and granddaughter Alexis Myer of Las Vegas, NV. Siblings: Jackie (Kelly) Becker of Montrose, CO, Judy Merrill of Elmira, NY, and Jim Merrill of Binghamton, NY. Nephew Rick (Allison) McElligott and children Austin and Hunter of Lorton, VA; nieces Beth (Heather) McElligott, Trish (Bob) Hawken and children Madison and Trey of Elmira, Leslie (Bob) Randall of Bend, OR, and Terry (David) Kleizen and son Aiden of Grand Junction, CO. May we find comfort in the knowledge that Fran is now at peace, her spirit watching over us from above. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Fran through donations to CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Rd., Painted Post, NY 14870.
