Obituary of Jane L. Green

Jane Lavina Green, age 93 formerly of Elmira, died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Whittier Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Ghent where she had been a patient since 2010. Mrs. Green was born in Troy, PA on January 22, 1919 to the late William and Martha Bright Burns. She was the wife of the late Morris Green who predeceased her in 1944. She was the housekeeper for the Dr. Smith and Epstein families for many years in Elmira prior to her moving to Catskill. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Charles (Doris) Swain and two grandchildren: Charles Swain and Mary Jane Swain; her brother William Burns of Elmira and his wife Eleanor Burns; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters: Mary Smith and Katherine Horton in addition to two brothers: Percy and Robert Burns. Friends and relatives will be received at the Walter J. Kent Funeral Home at 858 Lake Street, Elmira, NY 14901 on Tuesday, October 2 at 11 a.m. prior to interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
