Obituary of Billie James Blye

Billie James Blye Age 69, of Elmira, NY was born February 26, 1954 in Harlem, NY the son of the late Hosea and Marie (Mitchell) Blye Sr. He passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. His brothers, Hosea Blye Jr., Herman Blye and David Blye as well as his sister, Elaine Damon also preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda (Patterson) Blye; beloved children, Anthony "LaSha" (Lisa) Patterson of GA; Krystal (Wayne) Alington of NY; William James (Kim) Blye II of NY; Marcus (Lindsay) Blye of Japan; Michael (Kelly) Blye of Vermont; Vanessa (Graigery) Harer of NY; Elizabeth (Joseph) Zaffarese of NY; along with 22 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Billie was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. In 1980 he began his career with the Elmira Corning Regional Airport in Horseheads, NY and retired with the FAA after several years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post # 154. He was an avid bowler and loved traveling. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, August 25th from 11 am to 1 pm. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm. Reverend Johnny Vaughn will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery where the Chemung County Honor Guard will accord Mr. Blye with Military Honors. Memorial Donations in Billie's name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
