Arletta L. Taylor departed on November 27, 2023, at her home in Elmira, N.Y., at the vibrant age of 78.

Arletta is a native of Elmira, New York. She graduated from Elmira Free Academy in May 1963 and then attended Elmira College night school. She moved to live for 15 years in the Bronx and Manhattan, New York. Upon returning to Elmira, Letta, as she is affectionately known, began working as the shipping receiving supervisor at Westinghouse-Cutler-Hammer-Eaton until leaving in 1999.

Letta's work wasn't limited to shipping and receiving inventory; more accurately, Letta delivered and received support, comfort, and love for her community. To highlight demonstrations of her advocacy to her family, friends, and community, Letta actively assisted with Junior Achievement (JA), served on the Chemung County, Chamber of Commerce, and Elmira City Council elections, and her house was always open to host all her and her children's friends and her Holloway, Jones and Taylor families.

Arletta is predeceased by her parents, William A. Jones and Beatrice Holloway Jones, and her brother, William A. Jones Jr, and son, Rudy Faul. Arletta is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lowell E. Taylor, her eldest sister, Rosalind F. Faulkner, and sons, David R. Taylor, Lowell E. Taylor. Jr., Joseph W. Taylor and JeVon W. Taylor, and daughters, Lorraine E. Clark and Beatrice J. Taylor; her grandchildren, Jere T. Taylor, Jaden Ximines, Xavian Ximines, Giada Taylor, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Her memorial service will follow at 1 pm. Elder
