Obituary of LaVern I. Mallacoccio Jr.

LaVern I. Mallacoccio, Jr. Age 77 of Elmira, NY. He was born December 8, 1946 in Elmira, son of the late LaVern and Susan (Travis) Mallacocio, Sr. and passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 at home after an extended illness. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Stanley Todzia. LaVern is survived by his wife of 55 years Joann (Stedge) Mallacoccio; son and daughter-in-law LaVern and Lisa Mallacoccio, III; daughter Angela Todzia all of Elmira; grandchildren Vanessa, Angela, Dominick, Adam, Alexandria, Christie, Liz, Monica, Jackie and Andrea; 18 great grandchildren; brother Ronald Mallacoccio of Elmira; sisters Linda Savona of Corning and Pam Lain of Millerton along with several nieces and nephews. LaVern was a wounded and decorated Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army receiving 2 purple hearts. He retired in 2003 from the U.S Postal Service in Elmira as a letter carrier. He then worked for the Elmira City School District and Target. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 14th from 1 to 4 pm at the family home at 906 East Ave., Elmira.
