Barry Woodruff Jr.

Obituary of Barry George Woodruff Jr.

Barry George Woodruff Jr. Age 57. He passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024 surrounded by his two daughters and grandchildren. Barry's passing came after a 6-month long battle of health issues, as a result of an anoxic brain injury caused from a pulmonary embolism. Barry's daughters were by his side every step of the way, with all of his ups and downs. Barry spent 5 and a half months in Arnot Hospital, where he received countless hours of care by nursing and clinical assistants. His family would like to send their thanks and gratitude to all who helped during this difficult time. Barry was born November 9th, 1966 in Jackson, Michigan to Barry g. Woodruff Sr. and Marybelle F. Woodruff. Barry spent most of his life in Arizona, where he graduated high school and began his life as a (CDL) truck driver. He became disabled, causing him to retire from his truck driving career that he loved. Barry was predeceased by his father Barry Sr. in 1990; mother-in-law Betty VanCleaf in 2012; and his mother Marybelle in 2019. He is survived by his three daughters Charmai B. Choate (37) of Mesa, Arizona, Brittany N. Woodruff (33) of Horseheads, New York, and Deserae D. Woodruff (31) of Horseheads, NY; his 6 grandchildren Serenity R. Gonzalez (12), Savannah M. Hughes (9), Octavia L. Woodruff (7), Say'Veon L. Huggins (3), Phoenix V. Woodruff (6 months) and Harlem D. Woodruff (6 months); along with his 3 sisters, 1 brother, and several nieces and nephews. Barry moved to Elmira, New York in 2019 to be close to his two daughters and three granddaughters. During his time living in Elmira, he made a few good friends and was able to welcome two grandsons and another granddaughter into his life. Barry was a good father- supporting his girls every chance he got, all while being an even better Papa. Barry was a jack of all trades who loved to stay busy and helped anyone he knew. He spent most of his time with his daughters and grandchildren. Barry enjoyed doing family activities, watching cartoons with his grandchildren, and taking them for rides while he mowed the lawn. He was proud of being a Dad, but his greatest joy in life came from being a Papa. Barry's family will not be have a traditional service; a future Celebration of Remembrance for him will be announced, for close family and friends.
