Obituary of John Caccia

John Caccia Age 88 of Elmira, NY. He was born June 22, 1936 in Lopez, PA, the son of the late John J. and Helen (Maksimiak) Caccia. John passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24th, 2024. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Victoria Matera in 2011; along with sister-in-law Sharon Caccia. He is survived by his brothers Joseph (Edda) Caccia of Horseheads, NY, Ronald Caccia of Aurora IL, and James (Marilyn Moberly) Caccia of Cincinnati, OH; nieces Colleen (Mike Cicora) Larrison, Carol (Bill) McKenzie both of Elmira, and Michelle (Dean) Charles of England, Jeanette (David) Lofstron of Chicago, IL, and Janet Marie Danlet of Tulsa, Ok; nephews Michael (Tina) Matera of Elmira, and Joseph (Beth) Caccia of Chicago, IL; beloved sister-in-law Josephine Matera; several grand nieces and grand nephews; along with countless dear friends including Carl Larrison of Elmira. John served in the US Air Force from May of 1955 to January of 1959. Returning home, he married Victoria on October 22, 1960. He and Victoria were long time communicants of St. Anthony's Church – most recently of The Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Elmira. He retired from the Unites States Postal Service, in Elmira, where he put in 30 years as a Postal Clerk. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St., at Washington Ave., in Elmira, NY on Friday, November 1st, 2024 from 3 pm to 5 pm. His funeral and committal services will follow at 5 pm. Interment will be in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, with military honors, at the convenience of the family. Family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful medical team at Arnot Ogden Medical Center for their grace and kindness in John's final moments.
