Paul Nicholas Zubriski
January 25, 1948 - November 13, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Zubriski, a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who died peacefully on November 13, 2024. Paul was born on January 25, 1945 in Elmira, New York and proudly served his country as a soldier in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
As a dedicated and honorable Vietnam veteran, Paul answered the call to service with courage and conviction, serving two tours in Vietnam with the Wolfhounds 25th Infantry, where he earned the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation and Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal. His experiences during the war shaped much of his life, and he became known for his resilience, strength, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to his comrades and country.
After his military service, Paul returned to civilian life, where he went on to become a Lineman for NYSEG. He continued to exemplify the same dedication and work ethic that had defined his military service. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he found camaraderie with others who shared his experience and passion for service to others.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Zubriski, his father, Nicolas Zubriski, and his sister, Margaret Keehan. Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Kent Zubriski, son, Joseph Zubriski, daughter, Laurie (Brandon) Chaffee, and grandchildren, Morgan (Richard) Wadsworth and Maxwell (Melody) Egan.
Calling hours in honor of Paul Zubriski will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Walter J Kent Funeral Home at 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira. Military honors will be rendered on Friday, November 22nd at Woodlawn National Cemetery at 10 a.m.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses who supported him in his final days at Arnot Ogden Medical Center and St. Joseph's Health Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Paul Zubriski will be forever remembered for his service to our nation, his love for his family, and the legacy of strength and character he leaves behind.
