Obituary of Alice M. Gilboy
It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Palladino Gilboy announce that she has passed away after a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family when she went to heaven on November 28, 2024.
Alice was born on April 5, 1933 to Angelo and Bertha Rogus Palladino. She was the third of five daughters and a graduate of Thomas Edison high school in 1950.
Alice worked as a secretary in the production control department, machine, division, of the Eclipse in Elmira Heights, New York.
She married George F Gilboy Jr on January 23, 1954. After his service in the United States, Air Force, employment on the railroad and at Matewan Hospital, he worked for the New York State police, and they settled in Horseheads, New York.
Alice was a homemaker and helped her sisters in the catering business.
She was the loving mother of Frances, Joseph, Barbara and James.
Alice and George lived in Zephyrhills Florida from 1986 until Alice's death.
She was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Zephyrhills.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lucille Fields, her son, James, and grandson Samuel.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years George, her three other children, special friend Maureen Raub, her sisters Mary Buchtel, Margaret Mecum and Laurie Gould (Richard), her grandchildren, Ryan, and Catherine, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J Kent Funeral Home 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, December 6 from 5 to 7 PM Prayers will be offered there on Saturday, December 7th at 10:30 am, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
