With a heart full of love and a spirit filled with laughter, Eugene (Butch) Deery left this world on Thursday, November 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and a love that illuminated every life he touched. A devoted husband, cherished father and a loyal friend, his presence was a beacon of light and joy. His lifelong passion for music was only surpassed by his love for his family, where his infectious smile and laughter created countless cherished memories. Though he may be gone, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ella (Travis) Deery and is survived by his beloved wife Jeanne (Bacon) Deery; children Jeff (Kate Foss) Deery, Jennifer (Brian) Johnston; grandchildren Ian and Elliot Johnston; sisters Cheryl (Walter) Michalko, Debbie (Scott) Beschler, Darlene (Warren) Stephenson, Ellen Bacon and Ann Brooks Bacon; brother Bill Bacon; special friend Frankie Cicora and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Butch was employed with Elmira Savings Bank and then Corning, Inc. He was a communicant of The Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish, attending Ss. Peter & Paul Church; a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians and the Elmira Elks Club. Family and friends are invited to visit St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira on Saturday, December 28th from 10 am to 12 noon. His Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon.
