Mattie L. Ward, age 90, born September 1, 1934, in Dudley, GA passed away at home peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2024. The daughter of the late Frank Givens, Sr., and Priscilla (Thomas) Givens she was predeceased by husband David V. Ward, along with siblings: brothers, Frank, Arthur, Freddie, John, and James Givens; sisters Nancy Brown and Peggy Givens; children: Robert J. Givens and David D. Ward; stepchildren: David Ward and Keith Ward; grand-daughter, Ebony Whitty-Jenkins and In-Laws: James "Beaty" Ward and Belford "Bob" Ward, Willie Brown, Lula Givens, Mattie Givens, Ida Ward, and Jean Ward.

She is survived by her children: Edward M. (Nell) Givens, Francine (Cyril) Stephens, Dorothea Ward, Carmela Ward, Yolanda Ward, and Anthony Ward all of Elmira, NY; stepdaughter: Yvonne Ward of Chicago, IL; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; sisters-in Law Ruby Givens and MaryJane (Sandy) Givens and Special friend Theresa (Neet) Thigpen.

Mattie worked more than twenty years as a private Daycare Provider in her home. She loved cooking, shopping, family gatherings, and helping people. She was a very loving and caring person, and she will be greatly missed.

The family gives special thanks to I-Circle, Freedom Care, Care First and Walter J. Kent Funeral Home for all their personal and professional care in assisting the family.

In honoring Mattie's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
