Obituary of Margaret A. Palmer

PALMER, Margaret A. Age 68 of Horseheads, NY. She was born March 30, 1945 in New Kensington, PA, daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Elston) Phillips and passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. She was predeceased by her sisters Catherine Prevo and Louise Prevo; brother Melvin Phillips and leaves to mourn her loving husband of more than 40 years, David M.; son David M. Palmer II; grandson David M.C. Palmer both of Sao Paulo, Maranha, Brazil; brother Rev. William (Nazamovia) Phillips of Canton, OH, Samuel D. (Elaine) Phillips of Midland, TX; uncle Jewel (Mattie) Phillips of CA and a host of cousins. Margaret received her BS degree in Health Records Management and was employed as Assistant Director of Medical Records at Schuyler Hospital. She was president of the Southern Tier Braille Assoc.; a member, Sunday school superintendent, missionary and youth director at Monumental Baptist Church and she had a passion for and volunteered at the John W. Jones Museum as a trustee and the researcher. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, February 20th from 7 to 9 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21st at 11 am in Monumental Baptist Church. Rev. Frank Raines III will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Special acknowledgements and thanks for the care and comfort she received on the journey to her heavenly home includes the following: Hospitals: Arnot Ogden - Dr. Rominger, 6th floor telemetry staff, Chemung County Home Care; Strong Memorial - Drs. Tejani, Gulka, Kothari, Gramling,,etc, 6.14, WCC7 and 4.12 staff, Lifetime Care, & St. Johns Rehab Home. Those wishing may make contributions in Margaret's name to the John W.
