Obituary of Dorothy M. Breinlinger

BREINLINGER, Dorothy T. (Dottie) Dorothy May Tompkins Breinlinger of Elmira, NY left life on earth to shine as a star on Thursday, February 19, 2014 at the age of 89. Dottie was born on October 23, 1924 in Chemung, NY, the 7th of 8 children of Bert and Ida Tompkins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Oscar Breinlinger in 1981, as well as her siblings Evelyn, John, Bill, Bea, Blanche, Ruth and Marion. She is survived by her sons Martin (Karen) Breinlinger and Gary Breinlinger of Elmira and Stephen Weaver of Modesto, CA. Dottie leaves behind two beloved grandchildren, Dakota and Emily Breinlinger along with many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to Strawberry Mansion Society, Bethany Village, Arnot Ogden Medical Center, as well as her kind neighbors on Gray Street for their loving care of Dorothy over the past couple of years. We appreciate you all so much. Dorothy treated every person she met with respect, did not prejudge anyone, and accepted everyone without reservation, always with a smile and kind words. She was trusting almost to a fault and could be trusted to keep a secret for life. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbor and most of all a friend to everyone. She will be deeply missed. There will be no formal services. Dorothy would ask that you individually celebrate her life by toasting the memories of good times together, or by doing a kind deed for someone else, and imagine a world as Dorothy would wish it - everyone loved, treated fairly and always greeted with a smile.
