Obituary of Richard E. Knapp

KNAPP, Richard E. Age 79 of Horseheads, NY, formerly of Pine City, NY. He was born March 24, 1935 in Morris Run, PA, son of the late Fred and Anna Rose (Beaderman) Knapp and passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at home after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Colleen (Bennett) Knapp in 2001, and is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and Dale Petroff of Cazenovia, NY, Lori and Stephen Kankus of Marcellus, NY, and Teri and Mickey Burdick of Horseheads; grandchildren Alexander and Nicholas Petroff, Abigail Kankus, Cassandra and Tyler Burdick; sisters and brothers-in-law Beverly and Dennis Sullivan of Dallas, TX, Patricia and Gary Casterline of Elmira; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law David and Mary Margaret Bennett of FL, James and Mary Jo Bennett of Horseheads along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dick retired from Thatcher Glass, Purolator, and Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish (Ss. Peter and Paul Church). Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday October 23rd from 4 to 7 pm. Prayers will be offered there on Friday October 24th at 9:30 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
