Obituary of Mary Nelson

NELSON, Mary Age 89 of Elmira Heights, NY. She was born July 26, 1925 in Elmira, NY daughter of the late Patrick and Genevieve (Mold) Nelson and passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Tex E. Nelson on September 30, 2010; also by her brother and sister-in-law James and Doris Nelson and great grandchild Andon Davis. She is survived by her children and their spouses Sally and Les Richmond, Patrick and Patricia Nelson, Tex M. Nelson, Renie Nelson, Kathy and Jacque Wilkens and David Nelson; grandchildren Timothy (Siara Gates), John, Jenna and Kyle Wilkens, Amy and Anthony Davis, Chris, Kim and Steven Richmond, Michael Nelson, Lindsay and Eric Upham; great grandchildren Joslynn, Anderson, Bella and Ryan; nephew Dan (Shelley) Nelson; niece Kathleen Nelson; grandniece Logan Nelson; special friends Joan Keck, Theresa Patterson, Frank and Jean Kerbein, Mike Wells, Marilyn Wilkens, Denise Cady and Theresa Doane. Mary was known to many as "Momma Nelson." She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and all the family parties together. She loved her dog Chummy; was an accomplished artist who loved sharing her paintings with everyone. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Mary through donations to the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903.
