Obituary of Jean Wojtyna
WOJTYNA, Jean "Aunt Jean"
Jean began her next journey surrounded by love on November 20, 2014 at Arnot Ogden Hospital. She was born on July 1, 1927 to Wasyl and Tekla Wojtyna. In addition to her parents, welcoming Jean with open arms are siblings Mary, Michael, and Joseph, and niece Jean Van Duzer. Jean will lovingly watch over many nieces and nephews including: Susan(Wade) Matthews of Pearland, TX, Joseph (Rose) Wojtyna, Patrick Wojtyna, all of Elmira NY, Tammy Wojtyna (Arthur Russell) of Walkersville, MD, Sherry (Steven) Kimball of Madison, WI, Lewis Van Duzer of Horseheads, NY, James (Marie) Van Duzer of Williamsville, NY, William (Carole) Van Duzer of Erie, PA, David (Deirdra) Van Duzer, and highly favored grandnephew and lunch buddy Daniel Van Duzer all of Horseheads, NY. "Grandma Aunt Jean" will continue to guide eight grand nieces and nephews: Gabrielle and Nicholas Wojtyna, Sara Matthews, Riley and Coledon Russell, and Miller, Miles and Ian Kimball; who view her as a grandmother. A friend to everyone she met she leaves behind many cherished and dedicated friends. Extremely independent, Jean will be remembered as a gentle yet powerful force who loved animals, good food, the ponies at OTB, and most importantly "good family time". Aunt Jean always stressed the importance of family and her dedication will live on. Jean retired from Moore Business Forms after 40 years of service. She was a communicant of Ss. Peter & Paul Church but often enjoyed services at St. Mary Our Mother Church. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held at Ss. Peter & Paul Church on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 10:00 am followed by interment at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make a donation in Jean's memory to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903. The family would like to thank all those that have touched Jean throughout the duration of her life. She will never be forgotten. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
