Obituary of Ronald E. Newland

NEWLAND, Ronald E. Age 79 of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born May 2, 1935 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late Louis and Mary (Pattison) Newland and passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice; daughters Lisa F. Newland and Robin A. (Kim Eveland) Newland; grandson Christopher M. Newland, all of Elmira. Ronald was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church; a graduate of Waverly High School, class of '53 and attended Lafayette College. He retired from R.E. Newland & Associates Insurance Agency in Elmira after 35 years in the insurance industry; was a member of the Kiwanis, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a musician, and loved to play basketball. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, December 20th from 1 to 4 pm. His funeral and committal services will follow at 4 pm. Rev. Fred Dyer will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Home Cemetery, Waverly at the convenience of the family.
