Obituary of Kenneth A. Schwab

SCHWAB, Kenneth A. Age 82 of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born October 24, 1932 in Elmira, son of the late Audley and Doris (Whiting) Schwab and passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Elderwood Nursing Home, Waverly, NY. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Josephine in 2012 and is survived by his sister, Judy (Frank) Sabin of Weirsdale, FL, along with several nieces and nephews including the following whom he and Josephine helped raise; Terry and Donna Gooshaw of Millerton, PA with children Andrew and Jeremy (Dawn); Rick and Julie Gooshaw of Elmira Heights; Heidi Gooshaw of Canisteo with children Shawn and Susan; Todd and Nicole Gooshaw of Weirsdale, FL with son Christopher; and grandsons Branden and Brian Gooshaw of Elmira Heights. Kenneth was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church. He graduated from Edison High School, retired Sgt. from Monterey Shock Camp with the NYS Dept. of Corrections; was a veteran of Korea serving with the U.S. Navy Seabees and was a member of the American Legion Post 154 and the Catholic War Veterans Post 1178 both in Elmira Heights. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, January 17th from 10 am to 12 pm. His funeral and committal services will follow at 12 noon. Rev. Scott Kubinski will officiate. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
