Obituary of George L. Bowers

BOWERS, George L. Age 98 of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Chemung, NY. He was born February 23, 1916 in Shamokin, PA, son of the late Raymond and Henrietta (Lloyd) Bowers and passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 33 years, Sylvia; sons and daughters-in-law Karl and Flo Bowers, William and Joan Bowers all of Chemung, Dale and Louise Bowers of Waverly, NY; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. George retired from Chemung County Solid Waste and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, February 1st from 1 to 3 pm. His funeral and committal services will follow at 3 pm. Rev. Randy Stilson will officiate. Interment will take place in Chemung Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
