Obituary of Frank E. Johnson

JOHNSON, Frank E. Age 79 of Millport, NY. Frank was born June 28, 1936 in Elmira, son of the late Harry & Deletha (Gardner) Johnson and passed away, Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; stepchildren, Elizabeth & David Zinck with their children, David Jr., Codi Lynn & Rocky Zinck of Pine Valley; Tina Watkins with her children, Timothy Watkins & Robin Barber of Elmira; Arthur & Andrea Watkins with their son Trey Watkins of Windsor, ME; and Daniel Watkins and Ginnette Bell of NJ; sister, Louise Palmer of Horseheads; brother , Roger & Karen Conklin Johnson of Horseheads; their daughter, Deletha (Benjamin) Martin and children, Noah & Nicholas; son, Casi (Stephanie) Johnson, Luis (Amanda) Johnson and their son Zander; brothers-in-law, Irvin & Bernie Mower, Verne & Mary Mower, of Pine Valley, Stephen & Sue Mower, and Tony & Denise Mower, of Elmira; sisters-in-law, Sandra Keyser of TX, Karen & Daniel Morse of Pine Valley, April & Mike Van Syckel of Rifle, CO and Terri & Joe Reed of Erin; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, Frank was predeceased by his brother Emery Johnson; brother-in-law, Francis Palmer; nephew, Joe Palmer; niece, Bonnie Austin and great nephew Scott Palmer. Frank was a charter member of the Chemung Valley Old Timers, and a member and participant in the New York Steam Engine Association Annual Pageant of Steam, Pioneer Gas Engine Association Show, Southern Tier Antique Gas & Steam Engine Assn., Yates Annual Tractor & Engine Show, Endless Mountain Antique Tractor & Machinery Assn. Show, Knoxville Antique Engine and Equipment Show, Tioga County Early Days and Bradford County Old Timers, Inc. Frank organized and hosted an annual Antique Tractors & Engines show for 25 years, donating more than $185,000 to MDA. Starting with the 2015 show, proceeds will be split between the American Diabetes Assn., Secret-Santa of Schuyler County and the Arctic League of Chemung County. In keeping with Frank's wishes, the show will go on in 2016; your continued support would be appreciated. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 4 -7 pm. Frank's funeral service will take place there on Saturday, October 24th at 10am with Pastor Andrew Gable officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads.
