Obituary of Sean Powers

POWERS, Sean Age 48 of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born May 4, 1967 in Elmira, and passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 unexpectedly. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Alex Melnik; paternal grandparents John and Jane Powers and is survived by his daughter Nadia; Mother Olga (Jim) Stanton; father Steve Powers; brothers Joshua and Matthew; maternal grandmother Nadia Melnik along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sean was a great friend, loved by many people and was a support for so many. He was a positive loving soul who made his daughter Nadia the focus of his life. Sean was a musician and music lover, spending a lifetime making music and playing live. He was in several bands throughout his life, from Frenzy while in high school and more recently Jellyfinger among others. Anyone who knew Sean will never forget his humor. He was able to make anyone laugh and would use humor to make life more real and happier for those surrounding him. He was in very high spirits in his last days. Sean and Nadia had recently completed making Halloween costumes together. He was looking forward to starting a new job counseling troubled youths. He left us while he was in a good, positive and happy place. Please join his family in celebrating his life, that was full but too short, on Tuesday , November 3rd from 11 am to 1 pm at Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira.
