Obituary of Katherine T. Button

BUTTON, Katherine T. (Tidd) Age 91 of Elmira, NY. She was born April 16, 1924 in Bridgewater, ME, daughter of the late Olin F. Tidd and Mae P. Collins and passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 7, 2015. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband: Ronald L. Button in 1990, as well as her siblings: Harvey Burlock, Marion Nelson and Vaughn Burlock. Katy is survived by her sister: Edna Smith of Bridgewater, ME, niece: Carletta M. (Louis) Bassano of Ellsworth, ME; nephews: Dennison (Marjorie) Smith of Hampden, ME, and Harold Smith of Bridgewater, ME, along with several other loving nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She retired from Iszard's Department Store. She and Ronald were married in 1943 and enjoyed nearly 50 years together. Katy was an active volunteer for the Zonta Club in Elmira as well as the Chemung County Historical Society (Chemung Valley History Museum). Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., on Friday, November 13, 2015 from 10 to 11 AM. A memorial service for Katy will immediately follow at 11am. Katy will be laid to rest beside her husband in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Katy's name to the The Ida V Shop, Zonta Club of Elmira, 742 West First St., Elmira, NY 14905.
