Obituary of Daria O. Decker

DECKER-Kossak-Cornish, Daria O. "Dory" Age 77 of Elmira Heights, NY. She was born February 28, 1938 in Drohobych, Ukraine, daughter of the late Theophil and Olga (Herinosh) Kossak and passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer. In addition to her parents, Dory was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Earl Farwell. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Montgomery; grandchildren, Taesha (Jesse VanDorn) Montgomery, Ryan Montgomery, Kimberly Montgomery, and Jason Golden; her dear great-grandchildren, Jasmaya Simmons, Emma VanDorn, and Karter VanDorn; sister, Helen Farwell; niece, Danielle Farwell; and great nephew, Justyn McHenry. Dory owned a beauty salon and a bar in Elmira Heights for many years. Her greatest joys in life were her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as watching her soap operas and going 'rummage sailing' every weekend with her sister Helen. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., on Tuesday, December 8th from 5 pm to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial for Dory will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church,136 Oakwood Ave in Elmira Heights on Wednesday, December 9th at 10 am. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Those wishing can make a donation in Dory's name to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira, NY 14901.
