Obituary of Mary Louise Sterling

STERLING, Mary Louise (Tickner) Age 93 of Pine City, NY. She was born February 24, 1922 in Mansfield, PA, daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Garrison) Tickner and passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She married Gerald Sterling on January 3, 1942 and they were married for 66 ½ years until his passing on August 27, 2008. She was also predeceased by her son Roger Sterling, daughter Roxana Barnes Savino, daughter-in-law Gloria Sterling and all of her 5 siblings. She is survived by her children and their spouses Sandy and Dave Cary of Sevierville, TN, Sandy Shafer Sterling of Pine City, Bob and Sue Sterling of Pine City and Ken Sterling of Millport; uncle William Avery of Ulster, PA; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, February 18th from 2 to 4 pm. Her funeral service will follow at 4 pm. Rev. Dale Bower will officiate. Interment will take place in Webb Mills Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Mary through donations to the charity of one's choice.
