Obituary of Willie J. Miller

MILLER, Willie Age 63 passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at home following a battle with cancer. He was born August 20, 1952 in Alabama but was a lifelong resident of Elmira. Willie was predeceased by his mother Mae Miller; sisters Minnie and Leola Miller; niece Verna J. Brooks and stepdaughter Roxanne Stowe. He is survived by his sister Jeannette Miller; nephew Timothy Brooks; fiancée Debra Palmer; children Latara Brooks, Carmella Stubbs, William Miller, Jr., Shyannah Purrier, Jeremiah Miller, Natasha Miller, Joseph E. Woods, Sr. and Carleton T. Woods, Jr.; former wife Mary Miller; grandchildren Keith Patterson, Jr., Drekar Brooks, Jermaine Miller, Amarrion Miller, Nasir Miller-Stubbs, Deleon Card, Hannah Miller, William Miller III, Shellsea Mae Miller, Ishmael Miller, Ja'mi Miller, Amir Miller, Nazirah Miller, Eirizarrah Vaughn, Edjaonah Vaughn, Shcydavion Barrett, Da'Shawn Miller, Zakaia Rowe, Jeremiah Miller, Jr., Emmitt Miller, Brooklynn Rowe and Jia'miah Miller; 2 great grandchildren; special grand friend Joseph Woods, Jr.; special brother Eddie C. Hayes along with a host of nieces and nephews. Willie was a bus driver for many years and after retirement, he continued working as a landscaper. He was a fisherman at heart and an avid NY Giants fan. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Friday, March 18th from 11 am to 1 pm. His funeral will be held at 1 pm.
