Obituary of Felton A. Wells

WELLS, (Deacon) Felton, Sr. Age 95 of Elmira, NY, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016 at home. Deacon Wells was born on June 13, 1920 in Irwinton, GA, son of the late Lawyer and Eugenia (Milline) Wells. He was predeceased by his sisters Mattie Baker, Della Thomas and Mary Higdon and is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Ruby Wells; children Felton J. (Ella) Wells, Doreen Minnie (Michael) Daw all of Elmira; 2 grandchildren Ruby (Pendexter) Mack of Horseheads and Felton Jack (Nicol) Wells; great grandchild Tyrese Anderson Wells all of Elmira; one brother William (Catherine) Wells of Elmira; one sister Ella Mae Ashley; one sister-in-law Dolly Wells both of Dudley, GA along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and someone very special to him whom he loved as a son Elder Esco Smith of Elmira. Deacon Wells retired from Kennedy Valve after many years of service. He was a Deacon at Monumental Baptist Church for 52 years before joining his son and daughter-in-law in service at New Jerusalem Church. He enjoyed the times serving his church and most of all spending time with his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at New Jerusalem Church, 1320 Lackawanna Ave., Elmira on Monday, March 28th. Visitation will be from 11 am to 12 noon with his service starting at 12 noon. Rev. Ella Wells, his daughter-in-law and Rev. Pendexter Mack, his grandson-in-law will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
