Obituary of Ronald S. Pariso
Ronald S. Pariso, 80, passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2016 at Woodbrook Assisted Living Residence in Elmira, NY.
Ronald was born in 1935 in Elmira, NY to Pasquale and Cecilia Pariso. He was one of nine children. Ronald is survived by his children, Anthony (Pamela) Pariso of Elmira, Laurie (Christopher) Hobler of Olean, and Bartholomew (Doris) Pariso of Horseheads, as well as his sisters, Jeanne D'Amico, Jackonsville, FL and Patricia Neal, Montverde, FL and his sister-in-law Ann (Edward) Pariso. He is further survived by four grandchildren: Amanda (Caleb) Miller, Matthew Hobler, Liza (Chadd) Wheeler, Joseph Pariso and Nicholas Pariso. He is also survived by two great-grandsons (Gionni and Louie Wheeler), as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ronald is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Ruth, and his infant sons, Joseph (1960) and Jeffrey (1962). He is also predeceased by his siblings, Angie, Natalie, Yolanda, John, Phil, and Edward.
Ronald graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1954, and then served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957, and was Honorably Discharged. After serving in the Army, Ronald became a licensed Master Plumber, serving the Elmira area for many years. Ronald married his wife, Ruth Bartholomew, in February 1959. As a loving father and upstanding community member, Ronald spent much of his time with family and volunteering for multiple organizations, including Elmira Free Academy Booster Club, St. Anthony's Church, and many others. Ronald was an avid hunter, fisherman and conservationist. He also enjoyed playing cards and games with friends and family, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, May 15th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Prayers will be offered there on Monday, May 16th at 9:30 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church on Park Place in Elmira with Rev. Richard Farrell, Celebrant.
His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to Woodbrook Assisted Living Residence, 1250 Maple Ave, Elmira, NY 14904.
According to an ancient proverb, "Say not in grief: 'He is no more,' but live in thankfulness that he was." Those who knew and loved Ron know what a blessing he was, and he will be greatly missed.
