Obituary of Mary Irene Nelson

NELSON, Mary Irene "Renie" Age 57 of Elmira Heights, NY She was born October 29, 1958 in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Tex. E. and Mary Nelson and passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 very unexpectedly at home. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Patrick on March 28, 2016. She is survived by her siblings Sally (Les) Richmond of Cortland, NY, Tex M. Nelson of Elmira Heights, Kathy (Jacque) Wilkens of Watkins Glen and David Nelson of Elmira Heights; sisters-in-law Patricia Nelson of Horseheads, Rae Ann Nelson of Elmira; several nieces and nephews; dear friend Mike Wells of Elmira; her loving companions Lois and Chummy and many friends. Renie graduated from Horseheads High School and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC, making lifelong friends with her instructor and actress Betty Buckley. She enjoyed performing with Elmira Little Theater (which was actually her passion) and was an animal lover. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, May 28th from 1 to 2 pm. Her service will begin at 2 pm. Rev. John DeSocio will officiate. A reception will follow at the Horseheads Moose Lodge, 416 W. Franklin St., Horseheads.
