Obituary of John J. Liberatore

LIBERATORE, John J. "Libby" Age 74, of Elmira, NY passed away on December 25, 2012 after an extended illness at the Arnot Ogden Medical Ctr. John was the son of the late Richard and Helen Liberatore. He is survived by his wife Arlene; step-son Chad (Linda) Tifft; grandchildren Gehrig, Maris, and Mattingly of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers Phil (Marlene) Liberatore of Elmira, Pat (Sandy) Liberatore of Texas; brothers & sisters-in-law Charles & Mary Sullivan of Lowman, John & Ruth Daddona of Florida; many loving nieces, nephews and special friends; and his four kitties to who he was the treat man. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Richard, sisters Natalie, Ann Louise, Mary and in-laws Michael and Genevieve Daddona. He was a kind and loving, husband, father and grandfather. He loved to spend time in the kitchen making homemade pasta and pizzas. He loved the Yankees, the Giants and NASCAR. In his younger days he played semi-pro football and rode his Harley. He enjoyed gardening and did yard work with pride. His favorite vacation spots were Las Vegas and Ocean City, MD. He had a great sense of humor and was a hell raiser in his glory years. He was a veteran of the US Army, a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Parish and a member of the I.A.V.. He retired from Elmira PWD and worked part-time at Parkview Tavern and Moretti's Restaurant. Family and friends are invited to his Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 29th at 1:00 pm in Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Elmira. Rev. Richard Farrell, Celebrant. Interment in Woodlawn National Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions in John's name to Second Chance Ranch, a Voice for all Animals, PO Box 62, Wellsburg, NY 14894, Meals on Wheels, the SPCA, the I.A.V. or a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the entire staff at 4B Arnot for the wonderful care they gave John every time he was a "Frequent flyer", especially his girl Taresa, and the staff at the Dialysis Center as they were all so wonderful to John. Thank you to Dr. W. Rizk, Dr. Riley, Dr. Hicks and Chris Pesesky, NP who became friends after all the years of care. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
