Obituary of Brenda Decker

DECKER, Brenda Age 59 of Elmira, NY. She was born April 7, 1957 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Howard and Bernetta (Johnson) Ellis and passed away peacefully Thursday, December 8, 2016 surrounded by her loving children. Brenda is survived by her husband, Ray Decker; her son, Eddy (Paula) Howard Jr. of Elmira; daughters, Trina (Heather) Felker of Elmira and Crystal (Wally) Irons of Athens, PA; grandchildren, Jolene Dennison, Kaylyn Porter, and Tre' Porter; sisters, Shirley Andrews, Joyce Nichols, and Gert Tyler, all of Elmira, along with Linda (Dillion) Kalkhurst and Marion Emerson of FL; brother, Sonny (Ginny) Ellis of Elmira; along with several nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and many other loving family. She will be remembered for her passion of helping children which she lived every day in her many years working in the Elmira Heights School District, starting with Head Start, to Cohen, to the district bus garage, and followed by her work as a teacher's aide at Thomas A. Edison High School. She loved to sing karaoke and greatly enjoyed watching her son perform in bands. Brenda had a lot of fun making regular trips with her siblings, most often to Tioga Downs. Her laugh was infectious and a source of joy for her friends, relatives and even strangers. Brenda's family will conduct private services; they ask those wishing to make a donation to a charity of their choice in Brenda's name.
