Obituary of Elizabeth Jane Blanchard

BLANCHARD, Elizabeth "Jane" Age 88 of Horseheads, NY went home to be with the Lord and her loving husband, peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was born August 9, 1928 in Phillipsburg, NJ daughter of William and Helen (Fisher) Rossnegle. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, the love of her life, Vert Blanchard in 2013; father William Rossnegle; mother and stepfather Helen and Willard Gilbert; siblings Sandra Bollow, James, William, Gerald and W.H. Gilbert. She is survived by her children Charles V. (Constance) Blanchard of Midland, MI, Edward S. (Barbara) Blanchard of Escondido, CA, Victoria J. Kendra of Deltona, FL and Cynthia M. Griffith (Parcell) of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren Chaddrick Blanchard, Jennelle (Bob) Stafford, Jamie (Max) Poling, Andrew and Bryce Blanchard, Michael Kendra, Bradley, Alissa, Caitlin and Derrick Griffith; great grandchildren Aubrey Jane Griffith and Ella May Griffith, sister Marlene Shutts of Clay, NY along with several nieces and nephews. Jane spent her entire life devoted to her husband and family, while working her "dream job" as an in home hairdresser for many years. She enjoyed 67 years of her life with Vert on the river, Seneca Lake, fishing, camping, their back yard pool and traveling to Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands. She loved to cook, bake, play cards and entertain, as well as spend time with her grandchildren, going to most all of their sporting events. She adored her 2 great granddaughters and all of her birds, especially her hummingbirds, and had a very strong faith in the Lord. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, March 5th from 2 to 5 pm. Her funeral service will be held there on Monday, March 6th at 11 am.
