Obituary of Mildred K. Rugur
RUGUR, Mildred K.
Age 104 of Elmira, NY. She was born February 8, 1913 in St. Paul, MN, daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte (Peterson) Kurtz and passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017. She is survived by her son Arthur Randall of San Jose, CA. She moved to California in the mid 1920's and attended State Teachers College in San Jose. She graduated with a degree in Chemistry from the University of California in Berkeley. In 1934 she married Ross D. Randall. Mildred owned a dress shop in Berkeley from 1949 to 1956. On a cruise to Europe in 1962 she met Clyde W. Rugur. In 1963 she moved to Elmira and married Clyde. He died in 1974. Mildred was a teacher in the Horseheads School District from 1968 to 1978, retiring. After retiring, she travelled extensively, mostly in Europe and also to India and Japan. She was active in the NYS Retired Teachers' Association and with Literacy Volunteers. In 2012, age the age of 99, the Star Gazette did a feature article on her about her involvement with Literacy Volunteers. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
