Obituary of Robert Andrew Hill

HILL, Robert (Bob) A., Sr. age 74 of Elmira, NY. He was born February 23, 1943 in Sabinsville, PA, son of the late Gilbert and Erma (Stahle) Hill and passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at home. He is survived by his loving wife Marsha (Layton) Hill; children Robert A. (Autumn) Hill, Jr., Irma Alvoid, John L. Hill and Terrance L. Hill all of Elmira; stepchildren Shannon Lynn (Dennis) Cunningham of Addison, Tanya Layton of Elmira and Dustin Keith (Christina) Layton of Corning; brother Gary (Judy) Hill of Wellsburg; sisters Bonnie Rogers of Elmira and Greta Eldridge of Watkins Glen; sister-in-law Beverly Hill of Elmira along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to Bob who planned large gatherings for every event, holiday, birthday and as often as possible in between. Some favorites were picnics and cook-outs at Park Station and Taughannock Falls and his yearly tradition of going to the Troy Fair with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman fishing and hunting whenever possible-a passion he handed down to his son and grandsons. He enjoyed going to church every Sunday at First Baptist Church in Horseheads, was a member of the Chemung County Rod & Gun Club and retired from the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Wednesday, August 30th from 11 am to 1 pm. His funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
