Obituary of Katarina Nasarenko

NASARENKO, Katarina Age 95 of Burdett, NY. She was born March 20, 1922 in Yakimova, Ukraine, daughter of the late Ivan and Parasceva Buryak and passed away Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was predeceased by her husband Afanasy on December 28, 1976 and is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Walter Nasarenko of Burdett, NY, Victor and Jennifer Nasarenko of Hawaii. Mrs. Nasarenko was a member of Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church. She was one of the ladies at church who began and cooked for the Halupke dinners that the church had. She was an excellent baker and volunteered her baking skills continuously and loved gardening, having a large garden until a few years ago. Family and friends are invited to visit Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Church, 140 Horseheads, Blvd., Elmira Heights on Sunday, November 19th from 2 to 4 pm. Panykhyda will be at 4 pm. Her funeral service will be Monday, November 20th at 9 am in the church. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
