Obituary of Melissa C. Lewis

Lewis, Melissa C. Age 47 of Elmira, NY. She was born August 18, 1970 in Elmira, The daughter of Robert VanOstrand and Suzanne (Parsons) Thompkins and passed away Sunday, May, 13, 2018 unexpectedly. She is survived by her loving husband Joseph; children Jamar McDowell, Isaiah McDowell, Travon Lewis and Josiah Lewis; grandchildren N'Vi and Amari'ana McDowell; mother Suzanne Thompkins; sisters Nicole Torres, Heidi Thompkins, and Brittany Thompkins all of Elmira. She was predeceased by her brother Kevin VanOstrand, father Robert VanOstrand, and step father Aaron Thompkins Jr. Melissa was everything to her close family and friends the backbone and best friend to many. Joseph was her "soulmate" as she would always say. A beautiful kind hearted soul gone way to soon. She loved her children with everything in her and made many sacrifices to care for them and help them succeed. She was a hard working woman, and was planning big things for the future of her loved ones and kept in touch almost daily with the people she loved especially her mother Suzanne and close friends. Melissa will be a Guardian Angel to many and she will be dearly missed. Melissa left behind Two minor children Travon 13 and Josiah 12 whose father due to uncontrollable circumstances can not be with the children at this time.
