Obituary of Bertha Johnson
Bertha DuBois Johnson was born September 5, 1962 in Kingston, NY to the late George DuBois and Doris Mosley and passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018. She was predeceased by her sisters Tina DuBois and Barbara Goodman and is is survived by her husband Kenneth Johnson; five daughters, Teanna Rocker of Syracuse, NY, Yolanda Howard, Shanel March of Florida, Talesha Myles and Sade March of Elmira, NY; four siblings, Robin and Antonio DuBois of Alabama, George DuBois of Elmira, NY, and Sharon Shorter of North Carolina; nine grandchildren Kendriana, De'asia, Ray'von, Syon, Nakiya, Nasir, Nazalique, My'jeir and Justice; sister-in-law Gracie Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; brother-in-law Roosevelt Johnson of Hornell, NY; seven nieces, Shakeisha Mapp, Simone Williams of Virginia, Deshawna DuBois of Elmira, NY, Africa Shorter of North Carolina, Asia Smith of Texas, Rochelle Johnson of Camden, AL and Nevaeh Johnson of Hornell, NY; four nephews, Jamel Riddick and Brandon DuBois of Elmira, NY, Troy Johnson of Jacksonville, FL and Noah Johnson of Hornell, NY, as well as many great nieces and nephews, lifelong friends and family. She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend. She was strong, feisty and loveable. Above all she was a spiritual woman who believed in the work of the Lord. She will be truly missed. Family and friends are invited to visit Monumental Baptist Church, 308 E. Clinton St., Elmira on Saturday, September 22nd from 10 to 11 am. Her funeral service will follow at 11 am. Rev. Corey Cooke will officiate.
