Obituary of James Richard Parker

PARKER, James Richard Age 48 of Elmira, NY. He was born July 24, 1970 in Waverly, NY, son of the late Richard and Marion (Waclaveski) Parker and died unexpectedly on Friday, December 21, 2018 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepson Cameron Nichols. Jim is survived by his loving wife Pamela Parker; children Nicole Parker (Vinnie Salmela) of Erin, NY, Dakota Parker (Samantha Allington) of Elmira and their mother Vanessa Parker of Waverly; Nicco Parker of Elmira; stepson Austin Nichols of Elmira; grandchildren Emma and Sophia Salmela of Erin, NY,; sister Holly Parker of Owego, NY; brother Kenny Parker of CA; aunt Mary Mathews of CA; mother-in-law Cheryl Bailey, sister-in-law Kimberly (Garry) Snyder; brother-in-law Lonnie Bailey all of Odessa, NY; lifelong best friend Charlie Saxman. Jim was raised in Spencer, NY. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during Desert Storm. He worked construction, retail management until finding his true career calling as finance manager at Simmons-Rockwell. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, football, the casino lifestyle, his corvettes, but most of all spending quality time with his family and friends. Jim was always helping out other people, giving them advice. He was very generous; always joking sarcastically and was known for his brutal honesty. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, December 30th from 1 to 4 pm. His memorial service will follow at 4 pm. Special thanks to the Saxman family for always encouraging me; the Ellenson family; our many friends and family and the Simmons-Rockwell family.
