Obituary of Marjorie M. Reid

REID, Marjorie M. (Williams)

Age 89 of Elmira, NY.  She was born October 16, 1929 in Binghamton, NY, daughter of the late Clifford George and Beulah Mae Williams and was called home to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2018. In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Simon Bailor in 1964, and her loving husband of 46 years, Thomas J. Reid, Jr. in 2012, as well as her brother, Caesar Tapper.

She is survived by her children: Simon (Rebecca) Bailor Jr. of Corning, NY, Christine Ross of Springfield, MA, Gregory (Gwen) Bailor of Baltimore, MD, Bernadette Reid of Los Angeles, CA, Jon Kevin (Laurie) Reid of Attelboro, MA, and Teresa (Sam) Heyward of Charleston, SC; along with a host of beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Marjorie will be remembered for her ever present cheerful smile. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always had time to listen and gave freely of her time and effort. She retired from Iszard’s in Elmira and enjoyed bowling at the Elmira Bowling Center. For years she was a faithful member of the Monumental Baptist Church in Elmira, attending to her faith every Sunday.

Family and friends are invited to visit the Monumental Baptist Church, 308 East Clinton St. in Elmira, on Friday, January, 4, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Marjorie’s funeral service will be held there at 6:00 pm. Pastor Corey Cooke Celebrant. Private interment in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
