Obituary of Betty Jane Hurley

HURLEY, Betty Jane Age 92 of Elmira, NY. She was born July 28, 1926 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Edward J. and Edna (Mooney) Hurley and passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Chemung County Nursing Facility. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister Mary Dial; and her brothers Francis, Robert, Leon, William, John, and Richard Hurley. Betty is survived by her sisters Dorothy Noterfonzo, Jean (George) Lowman, and Evelyn (Phillip) Foster; along with several dear, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Box & Moore and Ray Farenholz, both in Elmira. She was a long time communicant of St. Mary's Church in Elmira. Betty is remembered as a woman who was passionate about reading, puzzles, crosswords, and knowledge. Everyone in the family knew, "if you need an answer, call Aunt B". She greatly enjoyed her daily visits and coffee with her sister Jean. Private services will be held for Betty at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery, Elmira. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the second-floor staff at the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the love, care, and devotion to Betty.
